The Elite at City Park Apartments has a notorious history in the SW area of Atlanta. We previously reported a shooting at the Elite at City Park apartments in December 2022 that left a man in critical condition<\/a>.<\/p>\n
In November 2020, a 15-year-old was killed at the Elite at City Park<\/a> apartments. The victim was followed as they left the complex and was then killed by a group of five to six men, all of whom were armed with handguns.<\/p>\n
Apartment residents have left online reviews<\/a> with a list of security and maintenance related issues. \u201cHaven\u2019t had [air conditioning] in months,\u201d said a reviewer who also warned that the \u201challways stay smelling like piss.\u201d<\/p>\n
A recent review warns the property is the site of frequent gun violence. \u201cThere have been multiple police raids and domestic issues with neighbors,\u201d they continued.<\/p>\n
One resident said it\u2019s a \u201cdangerous place to live\u2026 car break-ins, drug sales,\u201d and, of course, \u201croaches on roaches, on roaches.\u201d<\/p>\n
Only Crime Victims or Their Relatives Can Demand Justice<\/h3>\n
Georgia state law requires property owners to implement reasonable measures to deter foreseeable criminal activity. Apartment complexes may be contributing to a cycle of violence by disregarding violent crimes that occur in their vicinity.<\/p>\n
While law enforcement can apprehend and prosecute offenders, they cannot compel property owners to take necessary action to prevent crime on their premises, nor can they compensate victims\u2019 families for their loss.<\/p>\n
